Practical informations

The conference will be held at the "Institut d'Etudes Scientifiques de Cargèse". The institute is located on the seashore of the island of Corsica, 50 km north of Ajaccio, 2km south of Cargèse, a pleasant village of considerable charm and historic interest.

Arrival

Ajaccio is the nearest airport to Cargèse and is connected by several daily flights to Paris and other European cities.

Participants are expected to arrive at Ajaccio airport on Sunday October 21, late afternoon, and to leave from Cargèse on Saturday morning, October 27. A coach will pick up the participants from Ajaccio airport to Cargèse on Sunday, Oct. 21, around 6 pm and for the departure from Cargèse to Ajaccio, on Saturday, Oct. 27, around 9 am (arrival at Ajaccio around 10 am). We strongly encourage participants to choose this solution.

If this is not convenient for you, be aware that a taxi service from the airport to Cargèse costs approximately 100 euros for normal transfer and 120 euros for early, late and non working day transfer. It takes approximately 45 minutes.

Accommodation

The institute provides several bedrooms on-site and in the village of Cargèse. Some participants can also be lodged in hotels of the village (with which the institute has negociated prices). Be aware that a 20 minutes walk is required to reach the institute from the village, it is therefore necessary to provide proper footwear and a flashlight for night returns. The accommodation costs are as follows :
  • single room : 220.75 euros (weekly rate for 6 nights and 5 lunches, no daily rate)
  • double room : 190.75 euros (weekly rate for 6 nights and 5 lunches, no daily rate)
  • hotel : 62 euros per night (+ 9.90 euros per lunch at the institute)

Meals

Breakfasts will be served at the institute only to participants staying on site. Participants staying in the village will have to take care of their breakfasts on their own.
Lunches will be provided to all participants at the institute. Vegetarian menu options will be made available for those who require it (to be mentioned in the registration form).
Participants will have to take care of evening meals autonomously. There are several reasonably-priced restaurants in the village.
