The Helmholtz-Zentrum
Berlin für Materialien und Energie invites applications for a post-doctoral
position in Neutron Scattering Spectroscopy in soft condensed matter.
We are looking for a highly motivated scientist with a Ph.D. in
physics, chemistry, biology or related disciplines with experience in neutron
scattering along with good communication skills, who will join the Institute
for Soft Matter and Functional Materials. She/He will support our
scientific activities in the field of dynamics and functionality in soft matter
and life science systems using high resolution inelastic neutron scattering
techniques. The particular center of interest will be the area of polarised
neutrons and Neutron Spin Echo spectroscopy. She/he will provide scientific
support and assistance to external users at the wide angle neutron spin echo
spectrometer SPAN and will contribute to the improvement of the spectrometer .
The Helmholtz-Zentrum
Berlin für Materialien und Energie is a German National Laboratory. It is a member of the Hermann von Helmholtz Association of
National Research Centres and has about 600 employees. It hosts the user
facilities for neutron scattering, tomography and radiography at the
Lise-Meitner campus in Berlin Wannsee and the electron storage ring BESSY at
the campus in Berlin Adlershof. The new, ambitious Institute for Soft Matter
and Functional Materials at the Lise-Meitner Campus in Wannsee combines
expertise on versatile fields of soft condensed matter with the power of a
neutron and X-ray scattering facility. Suitable applicants should be motivated
to benefit from the unique combination of modern laboratory experimental
techniques with neutron and X-ray scattering methods.
The appointment is for 3 years. Applicants should send a letter of
application, a detailed CV, a list of publications and copies of degrees to
Helmholtz-Zentrum Berlin für Materialien und Energie, Abt. Personal und
Soziales, Glienicker Str. 100, D-14109 Berlin, Germany, quoting reference F 2009/17 (email: personalabteilung@helmholtz-berlin.de).
The deadline for applications is 15th
October 2009.
