De: K. Diederichsen [diederichsen@helmholtz-berlin.de] Envoyé: jeudi 16 décembre 2010 13:18 À: neutron@neutronsources.org Objet: [Neutron] Postdoc Position Detector Development at HZB Postdoc Position Detector Development In the framework of a German wide BMBF funded project related to instrumentation developments for the future European spallation source ESS we are looking for a Postdoc to join corresponding efforts at the Helmholtz Zentrum Berlin (http://www.helmholtz-berlin.de). The candidate is expected to participate in the optimization and test of high performance readout electronics for position sensitive neutron detectors. The detectors are designed for global rate capabilities of up to 108/s and suited to cope with highest demands of special experiments at the European Spallation Source ESS. The read-out electronics is based on a CMOS ASIC and signals are further processed by state-of-the-art FPGA technologies (e.g. Xilinx Virtex- 5). Tests of readout electronics and performance evaluation of the detector will be an important task carried out in laboratory and at the detector test station of HZB. We are offering a very interesting work at the leading edge of detector development and provide a laboratory with up-to-date equipment. The project is part of the Redesign Phase of ESS and funded by BMBF. The successful candidate holds a degree in physics, engineering or related subjects. You should be highly motivated and have a basic knowledge of nuclear measurement techniques. His/her responsibility in the project will be the optimization of a high speed FPGA based readout board, which requires the usage of advanced design and layout techniques for printed circuit boards. In order to carry out an appropriate testing of his/her developments, knowledge of VHDL and other programming languages are advantageous. Good oral and written English skills and a capacity for teamwork in a project with national and international partners are expected. The appointment is for three years. Applicants should send a letter of application, CV, copies of diploma and PhD certificates and a list of publications to Helmholtz Zentrum Berlin, Abt. Personal und Soziales, Hahn- Meitner-Platz 1, D-14109 Berlin, (e-mail: personalabteilung@helmholtz-berlin.de) before 14 January 2011 quoting reference No. G2010/18.
