The project aims to understand and control magnetism in thin films and superlattices of layered correlated oxides and topological kagome metals. In addition to diffraction and reflectivity measurements, a significant emphasis will be placed on developing novel sample environments for in situ neutron studies of magnetism in these heterostructures. The researcher will also carry out sample synthesis using molecular beam epitaxy and thin film characterization through x- ray scattering, magnetotransport measurements, magnetometry, and x-ray spectroscopy. Interested candidates should send their CV, a cover letter, and a list of two references to provide letters of recommendation to Steve May (smay@drexel.edu). The position is available beginning October 1, 2023. The appointment can be for up to three years. A Ph.D. in materials science, physics or a related field is required. Previous experience in neutron or synchrotron scattering is desired but not required. Drexel University is located in Philadelphia, PA, USA.
